ABOUT THE ART
Few artists have shaped the visual language of contemporary street art as profoundly as Shepard Fairey. Best known for his iconic OBEY GIANT campaign and Barack Obama's HOPE portrait, Fairey has built an internationally recognized career combining bold graphic imagery, political commentary and the visual traditions of propaganda, advertising and counterculture.
'Ideal Power' exemplifies Fairey's distinctive approach to art and visual communication. Originally introduced as a print in 2017, the design incorporates the artist's signature graphic elements, intricate ornamental patterns and commanding visual symmetry. Its striking composition reflects Fairey's ongoing exploration of power, influence and the ways imagery can shape public perception.
In 2022, the artwork was reimagined as a collectible BE@RBRICK figure set through a collaboration with Japanese designer toy manufacturer Medicom Toy. Released as a DesignerCon 2022 exclusive, the set includes both the impressive 400% (11-inch) figure and its miniature 100% (2.8-inch) companion, each featuring Fairey's distinctive artwork applied to the iconic BE@RBRICK silhouette.
Bringing together two influential forces in contemporary collectible culture, the collaboration transforms Fairey's two-dimensional graphic artwork into a three-dimensional sculptural presentation.
What makes this particular set especially desirable is its original, hand-signed presentation box, personally signed and dated by Shepard Fairey in blue marker. The artist's signature adds an additional layer of collectibility to an already sought-after, sold-out release.
A compelling intersection of street art, graphic design and Japanese designer toy culture, Ideal Power represents an exciting opportunity to acquire one of Fairey's recognizable compositions in an unconventional collectible format, further distinguished by the artist's original signature.
