ABOUT THE ART

Okuda San Miguel’s new limited-edition print “Living in 2 Worlds at Once”, is inspired by Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel ceiling. The new Okuda print on fine art paper comes in a limited run of 300, numbered and signed by the artist.

The latest artwork by the Spanish artist Okuda San Miguel, this is a new art print adaptation of an original piece acquired by art collectors in New York. It represents Okuda’s unique take on renaissance genius Michelangelo’s iconic painting on the Sistine Chapel ceiling.

The Spanish contemporary artist, through the prism of radically contemporary and street iconography, has reinterpreted the scene from Genesis depicted in the original painting. Turning the religious content of the original artwork on its head, Okuda’s imagery reflects his belief that both in heaven and on earth, angels and humans coexist with cartoon characters and digital beings, which live inside us from our childhood. This coexistence, together with the accompanying digital language, has resulted in a new sort of religion. One we all follow, consciously or unconsciously.

A part of the profits will be donated to the Coloring the World Foundation.
