ABOUT THE ART

French street artist LUDO is internationally recognized for his distinctive fusion of natural forms, mechanical imagery and provocative social commentary. Best known for his signature black, white and fluorescent green palette, LUDO explores the uneasy relationship between humanity, technology, consumerism and the environment. His intricate, often surreal compositions combine elements of botanical illustration, industrial design and political symbolism, creating a visual language that is both immediately recognizable and deeply thought-provoking.

Power to the People (2020) was created for The Terrordome, a group exhibition at Denver-area Black Book Gallery celebrating the 30th anniversary of Public Enemy's groundbreaking 1990 album, Fear of a Black Planet. The composition features a striking assemblage of human skulls, punctuated by LUDO's unmistakable fluorescent green accents, surrounding a central target bearing the silhouette of Public Enemy's iconic crosshairs logo. The imagery evokes themes of mortality, conflict, resistance and the enduring power of politically conscious music. By incorporating one of hip-hop's most recognizable symbols into his own visual vocabulary, LUDO pays tribute to Public Enemy's uncompromising legacy of challenging authority, confronting social injustice and demanding change.

Produced in 2020, this impressive 27.5 x 19.75-inch hand-pulled silkscreen was printed on heavyweight 300gsm Rives fine art paper and individually hand-finished by the artist using acrylic, graphite and marker, adding a unique element to each impression. Released in a sold-out limited edition of only 50, this example is hand-numbered #40/50 in pencil at the lower left and hand-signed by LUDO at the lower right, with his signature characteristically highlighted in fluorescent green. Combining the artist's celebrated street-art aesthetic with the cultural significance of Public Enemy's revolutionary music, Power to the People represents a compelling intersection of contemporary art, hip-hop history and political expression.
