ABOUT THE ART

Created during the summer of 2015, when Banksy's infamous Dismaland transformed a derelict seaside resort in Weston-super-Mare, England, into a dystopian art installation, this rare street paste-up by Bristol-based artist John D'oh captures the irreverent humor and anti-establishment spirit that defined the event.

Dubbed a "bemusement park," Dismaland brought together more than 50 international artists in a darkly satirical reinterpretation of traditional theme parks, challenging consumerism, celebrity culture and the commercialization of contemporary art. Against this backdrop, John D'oh created Paris Paste-Up, featuring a high-contrast, stencil-style portrait of celebrity socialite Paris Hilton wearing a BANKSY shirt beneath the unmistakable DISMALAND lettering. The composition playfully references the intersection of celebrity obsession, street art and the increasingly commercial appeal of Banksy's cultural phenomenon.

Originally produced for public street display during the Dismaland period, these large-format posters were intended to be pasted onto urban surfaces rather than preserved as conventional fine art. Consequently, surviving examples in unused, intact condition are particularly desirable as artifacts of the era.

Hand-signed by John D'oh in ink, this exceptionally well-preserved example offers a distinctive piece of British street art history, connecting the artist's satirical visual language with one of the most celebrated and unconventional art events of the twenty-first century.
