ABOUT THE ART
Dutch contemporary artist Handiedan (Hanneke Treffers) is internationally recognized for her intricate digital and mixed-media collages, combining vintage photography, classical ornamentation, sacred geometry and elaborate architectural details into richly layered compositions. Drawing inspiration from Art Nouveau, Victorian aesthetics and the mathematical patterns found throughout nature, her distinctive work explores femininity, spirituality and the relationship between physical reality and the infinite possibilities of the cosmos.
Created in 2020, Torus in Blue exemplifies Handiedan's fascination with the intersection of classical beauty, geometric abstraction and contemporary technology. The composition draws inspiration from the torus, a mathematical form resembling a continuous ring or doughnut-shaped surface, often associated with concepts of energy, interconnectedness and infinity. Rich blue tones complement the artist's signature ornamental imagery, creating an atmospheric exploration of symmetry, movement and dimensional space. Particularly noteworthy is the work's special Augmented Reality (AR) component, introducing an interactive digital dimension that extends the artwork beyond its traditional printed surface and bridges the worlds of fine art and emerging technology.
Produced as a fine art giclée print on premium 315gsm etching cotton rag paper, Torus in Blue captures the extraordinary detail and layered textures of Handiedan's intricate compositions. Issued in a limited edition of only 77 impressions, this example is hand-signed and numbered 22/77 and features the artist's distinctive hot wax seal. Accompanied by an original, artist-signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity, this beautifully produced edition represents a compelling fusion of traditional printmaking, contemporary collage and innovative digital art.
