ABOUT THE ART
Damien Hirst was born in Bristol, England in 1965 and attended Goldsmiths College. In 1988, he curated Freeze , a benchmark exhibition for British art, and was awarded the Turner Prize in 1995.
A major survey of works from 1989-2004 was held at the Museo Nazionale Archaeologico di Napoli, Italy in 2005. Hirst recently curated In the darkest hour there may be light , a selection of works from his Murderme collection at the Serpentine Gallery, London, UK.
He lives and works in Devon, UK and Mexico. Damien Hirst: The Complete Spot Paintings 1986-2011 recently took place at all of Gagosian Gallery's eleven locations in New York, London, Paris, Los Angeles, Rome, Athens, Geneva, and Hong Kong (2012).
Damien Hirst had his first retrospective at the Tate Modern, London, UK during the 2012 Olympics.
