ABOUT THE ART
'Phase 1 Chomp' brings together the unmistakable visual styles of acclaimed graffiti-inspired artist Sket One and collectible designer-toy company Abominable Toys, transforming the beloved Chomp character into a vibrant celebration of contemporary street art and pop culture.
Released in 2022, this limited-edition collaboration reimagines Abominable Toys' signature wide-eyed, yeti-like character through Sket One's distinctive Phase 1 graphic treatment. Bursting with electric pinks, greens, oranges, yellows and blues, the figure features overlapping geometric patterns, energetic paint splatters and bold color blocking that give the playful character an unmistakable graffiti-inspired personality.
Known for transforming familiar objects and characters through the visual language of street art, Sket One draws inspiration from graffiti, graphic design, advertising and popular culture. His work frequently explores the intersection of fine art and commercial imagery, making the designer-toy format a natural extension of his artistic practice.
The figure's elaborate production required more than 30 individual paint masks, reflecting the technical complexity involved in translating Sket One's layered, multicolored artwork into a three-dimensional vinyl collectible. Its custom black paint-splatter display base reinforces the illusion that Chomp has emerged directly from a colorful street-art creation.
Produced in a limited edition of 1,000, Phase 1 Chomp represents an engaging crossover between graffiti culture, character design and collectible vinyl art, appealing to fans of both Sket One's distinctive aesthetic and the growing world of contemporary designer toys.
