Originally conceived in 2007, Sunsets reflects the artist's ongoing concerns about industrial pollution, fossil fuel dependency and humanity's increasingly destructive relationship with the natural world. Drawing inspiration from vintage travel advertisements and propaganda posters, Fairey transforms the familiar romantic imagery of a sunset into a provocative commentary on the environmental consequences of industrial progress.

These Sunsets Are To Die For presents a seemingly idyllic scene of a couple standing hand in hand, admiring a dramatic red-and-gold sunset over an industrial waterfront. Yet the beauty of the landscape is deliberately deceptive, as smokestacks on the distant horizon release dark, swirling emissions into the glowing sky. Rendered in Fairey's signature palette of bold reds, golden yellows and deep blacks, the composition creates a striking contrast between natural beauty and industrial destruction. The ironic declaration, "These Sunsets Are To Die For!", reinforces the artwork's underlying message, suggesting that the very pollution responsible for such spectacular skies may ultimately threaten the environment and those who inhabit it.

Reissued as an open-edition offset lithograph, this impressive 36 x 24-inch print revisits Fairey's celebrated 2007 imagery with the crisp graphic detail and rich colors characteristic of his work.
