ABOUT THE ART
Few names are as deeply connected to the history and evolution of Los Angeles graffiti culture as OG Slick. Renowned for his iconic cartoon hands, unmistakable graffiti lettering and decades of influence on street art, OG Slick has transformed his distinctive visual language into a celebrated body of artwork spanning murals, paintings, sculptures and designer collectibles.
In 2023, OG Slick joined forces with innovative designer toy manufacturer Superplastic to introduce the SuperKranky series, a five-part collection of oversized spray-can-inspired vinyl figures that bring the rebellious energy of graffiti culture into the world of contemporary collectible art.
'Love Red' launched the series, transforming a familiar aerosol spray can into a playful, animated character featuring oversized white cartoon hands, vibrant red sneakers and a dripping red cap. Standing 8 inches tall, the figure features a removable cap revealing a metallic spray nozzle and an internal rattle that mimics the sound of an actual spray-paint can.
Produced in a limited edition of 1,111 figures, Love Red established the distinctive aesthetic that would carry through the subsequent SuperKranky releases.
What makes this particular offering especially desirable is the inclusion of two additional collectible pieces associated with the original 2023 launch.
Accompanying the figure is 'The Love (Red)', a vibrant 10 Ă— 10-inch archival pigment print featuring OG Slick's signature cartoon hands forming a heart against a striking red background. Produced in a limited edition of just 500 prints, this example is individually hand-signed by OG Slick and numbered #443/500.
Completing the collection is an exclusive OG Slick-designed promotional spray-paint can, featuring custom graffiti graphics and its original illustrated presentation box. Created as a special promotional collectible, the spray can adds another dimension to the release, connecting the sculptural figure directly to the aerosol-paint culture that inspired it.
Together, these three pieces offer a compelling presentation of OG Slick's artistic universe, bringing together designer vinyl sculpture, signed limited-edition printmaking and graffiti-inspired collectible design.
With the original Love Red figure now sold out, this coordinated three-piece offering represents a particularly appealing opportunity for collectors of contemporary street art, graffiti memorabilia and designer toys.
