ARTIST BIO

'Barbie' brings together two iconic names in American pop culture: legendary Pop Art pioneer Andy Warhol and Barbie, the fashion doll that became a global symbol of consumer culture, beauty and celebrity.

In 1986, Warhol created his celebrated portrait of Barbie, applying the same bold colors, graphic repetition and fascination with manufactured celebrity that defined his famous portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and other cultural icons. By treating Barbie as a celebrity worthy of portraiture, Warhol elevated a mass-produced toy into the realm of fine art, reflecting his lifelong fascination with advertising, consumerism and popular imagery.

Released in 2025 as part of Medicom Toy's BE@RBRICK Series 51, this miniature collectible reinterprets Warhol's Barbie imagery through the instantly recognizable bear-shaped designer-toy platform. Its vibrant yellow and red surface features repeated images of Barbie's face, echoing Warhol's signature use of repetition, vivid color and commercial imagery.

Officially licensed by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, the figure represents a contemporary intersection of Pop Art, fashion, nostalgia and collectible toy culture.

Standing approximately 2.8 inches tall, this sold-out release transforms one of Warhol's recognizable pop-culture subjects into a miniature art collectible, connecting his artistic legacy with the modern designer-toy movement.
