ABOUT THE ART

Limited edition postage stamp set from Ukraine (set of 6). This particular issue of stamp is dedicated to the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and features Banksy's famous 'FCK PTN' mural which was painted on the side of a destroyed house in the village of Borod.

The mural depicts a man resembling Russian President Vladimir Putin being flipped during a judo match with a young boy.  A phrase with an abbreviated expletive addressing the Russian leader has been added to the bottom left corner of the stamps.

Mr Putin is a judo black belt and an admirer of the martial art.  Many Ukrainians see Banksy's mural as a metaphor of Ukraine's fierce resistance to the Russian invasion, which began on 24 February 2022.

The Ukrainian government printed a relatively small run of these stamps and only 250,000 are in circulation.
