ARTIST BIO

TORSO is an English-born contemporary artist based in Bristol, UK.

Exploring social constructs is what intrigues him. Torso attempts to unpack the threading of the day-to-day world we live in. Revealing a latent beauty, chaos, or vulnerability in something we have seen so many times before. Through the subversion of imagery, and a manipulation of scale, a different way of seeing is revealed onto the canvas.

To see fire is to see an intrinsic beauty in a form of destruction. This paradoxical aesthetic is the subject of a body of work the artist is currently producing for a major solo show in 2021. No matter an object's inherent status or value, it will always be humbled by the flame. His hyperrealistic, large-scale airbrush paintings aim to capture this very moment, offering us a new thread to reflect on.

Having studied Fine Art in London in 2009, Torso moved to Bristol in 2014, and has been part of the art scene there for the past 6 years developing his style whilst working alongside renowned artist Sickboy, as his assistant. With great success selling in London galleries, this forthcoming work with 1xRUN will mark his debut release in America.
