ABOUT THE ART

Among Salvador Dalí’s most enduring obsessions was the distortion of time itself, and few images symbolize that concept more powerfully than his legendary melting clocks. 'Clock Explosion' reinterprets the dreamlike visual language of 'The Persistence of Memory' (1931), transforming the familiar soft timepiece into an almost violent surrealist eruption of fragments, symbols, and dissolving forms. Suspended between dream and decay, the warped clock floats within a barren coastal landscape illuminated by Dalí’s signature contrasts of glowing light, deep shadow, and impossible stillness — imagery that helped define the Surrealist movement of the 20th century.

This dramatic 1988 offset lithograph poster captures the rich color and theatrical atmosphere of Salvador Dalí’s iconic imagery while presenting beautifully as a large-format vintage display piece. Printed on satin-finish poster stock and featuring the artist’s bold facsimile signature and title below the image, the work retains strong visual impact with vivid saturation and sharp detail throughout.

Minor waviness from previous framing and storage, along with a small tear to the lower right border, do little to distract from the poster’s overall presentation, which remains clean, vibrant, and highly displayable for collectors of surrealist art and classic Dalí imagery.
