ARTIST BIO
In this striking composition, Trevor Andrew—known as GucciGhost—reinterprets one of street art’s most iconic images through his signature lens of luxury and subversion. Clearly referencing Banksy’s 'Flower Thrower', the figure here replaces the act of protest with a more ambiguous, almost vulnerable gesture, holding a bouquet that contrasts sharply with its branded, Gucci-patterned body. The result is a layered visual dialogue between rebellion and consumerism, where symbols of peace and resistance are filtered through the language of high fashion.
GucciGhost rose to prominence by merging street art with luxury branding, famously catching the attention of Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele, which led to an official collaboration. His work consistently plays with the tension between authenticity and commodification, using the Gucci monogram not just as decoration, but as a conceptual tool. By placing it onto cartoon-like, ghostly figures, Andrew blurs the line between identity and brand—suggesting how deeply consumer culture has embedded itself into modern life.
In this piece, the homage to Banksy adds an additional layer of meaning. While Banksy’s original work speaks to political resistance and hope, GucciGhost’s reinterpretation reflects a contemporary shift—where rebellion itself can become stylized, branded, and absorbed into mainstream culture. The piece stands as both tribute and critique, capturing the evolution of street art from raw protest to global, commodified phenomenon.
