ABOUT THE ART
Mural to your wall...the inside story by Fin DAC:
"Nabigwa was first painted as a mural atop a building in Portland.
It was painted on a roof terrace with access restricted to tenants of the building itself so I made it much more of an installation and an adaptation of the space rather than simply a painting on a wall.
In the original mural the hair was adapted from external air conditioning ducts and piping and the butterflies were floated on hidden springs so they fluttered in the wind. The female figure also held an open cage, physically attached to the wall, out of which certain butterflies seemed to be escaping.
This print artwork was first painted at my solo show in late 2021 as one of 4 large pieces that recreated murals of mine, from around the world, that contained either plants or butterflies."
