ARTIST BIO

Danny Chan is a Hong Kong–based designer and visual artist best known for creating the 'Killer Cat' figure, a standout piece within Toy2R’s internationally acclaimed Qee line of urban vinyl collectibles. Emerging in the early 2000s, Chan’s work embodies the experimental energy of the designer-toy movement that blurred the lines between fine art, street culture, and consumer design. His first 'Killer Cat' debuted in 2003 as part of Qee’s Series 3 Collection, later followed by larger 8-inch versions and the highly sought-after 'Killer Cat 2' (2006). Through his collaboration with Toy2R, Chan helped shape the identity of Hong Kong’s art-toy scene—one defined by character-driven storytelling, limited-edition craftsmanship, and subversive humor.

The 'Killer Cat' series captures Chan’s signature mix of edgy street-inspired aesthetics and pop-art sensibility. Often described as both playful and politically charged, the character’s stylized design and defiant attitude reflect the rebellious tone of early 2000s urban art culture. Although much of Danny Chan’s personal background remains elusive, his contributions to designer-toy art have earned him recognition among collectors and enthusiasts worldwide. His work continues to represent the creative crossover between sculpture, illustration, and collectible culture—cementing 'Killer Cat' as an enduring icon of the global urban-art movement.
