ARTIST BIO

Brusk, born in Lyon in 1976 with a pencil in his hand, spends his childhood feeding notebooks, tables and eventually school walls with an endless stream of drawings… until he discovers graffiti and the Hip Hop culture in 1991.

From then on, the city becomes his playground, where he’s constantly searching for new media that can accommodate his creations. Highways, railways, trains, vacant lots, wastelands, empty churches… everything is a pretext for him to display his delirious visual universe, composed of typographic twists, abstract explosions, ultra-realistic characters and urban mob scenes. It’s inevitable that his reputation starts to spread beyond his native region.

As a graduate of the Fine Arts School of St. Etienne, Brusk is capable of painting and drawing everything. He takes advantage of his formative years to school himself in numerous artistic disciplines, easily switching from graphic design to light graffiti, sculpture, installations and the direction of stop motion films.

In 2006 he accepts the invitation of Bom.k, Iso and Kan to join the Da Mental Vaporz collective. He goes on the offensive in Europe, alongside Dran, Gris1, Jaw, Blo and Lek & Sowat, with whom he paints ever bigger walls and realizes ever more ambitious joint exhibitions.

Parallel to these continuous voyages, Brusk finds the time to put his spray cans in the workshop to develop very intimate paintings, mixing his graphic obsessions and experimenting with form and matter.
